James (Jimmy) Curtis Riggins' Obituary
James (Jimmy) Curtis Riggins. Following a series of medical complications, Jimmy died at age 55 on February 18, 2012 in Memphis, TN at Methodist University Hospital. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Midtown Memphis who served for many years as a volunteer for “Memphis in May” and fund-raising events throughout the Memphis area. Jimmy was known as a judge for BBQ-cooking competitions around the Mid-South. An avid fan of sports and music, Jimmy was particularly fond of NASCAR and live entertainment venues. He enjoyed boating and deep-sea fishing. Jimmy was in the plumbing business for the greater part of his life. He is survived by his partner, Debbie Lynn Poe and her children Joshua James and Samantha Beth, all of the Memphis area. Other survivors include Judy Riggins Walker and her husband, Bryan Walker of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Jan Riggins Graeber, and her partner, Charlie Mathews, of Madison, MS; nephew, Kenny Graeber of Oxford, MS; nephew and niece, Greg and Mendel Graeber, of Dauphin Island, AL. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the American Cancer Society. A visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. A private graveside service will follow the memorial service.
