James David Causey's Obituary
James David Causey, 89, of Memphis, died on November 3, 2015 after a long illness. Mr. Causey was born in Tolarville, Mississippi on January 31, 1926. He served in the United States Air Force from 1943 through 1946 where he was a pilot that flew B17’s. After the service he met and married Evelyn Lumbley on June 6, 1948 and they were married for 62 years. Mr. Causey attended Delta State College and graduated from The University of Florida in 1950 with a degree in law. They moved to Memphis where he was admitted to the Tennessee Bar and practiced law until 2008 when he retired. Mr. Causey was president of the Memphis Bar Association in 1980 and he was a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Lawyer Pilot Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and many others. He was a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and American Board of Criminal Lawyers. He was an original inductee in Best Lawyers in America in five different categories. Mr. Causey was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed traveling with his wife. Mr. Causey is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Causey, and survived by one son, James D. Causey, Jr. (Lexi); one daughter, Catherine Causey Byrd (Steve); two granddaughters, Taryn Elizabeth Causey and Laura Allison Byrd; and one brother, Bill Causey. Visitation will be on Friday, November 6 from 12 pm. until service at 1 pm. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Paige Robbins Alzheimer’s Day Care.The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119. “Honoring Lives Behind the Stone Wall.”
