James K. Caughley, Jr.'s Obituary
James K. Caughley, Jr. met our Lord and Savior on October 15, 2016. He served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Era. James retired from Coors Brewing Company in 2004 after 25 years, having been with the company since it was Schlitz in the 1970s. James loved wildlife and animals, especially his Maine Coon cats. His love of cats began when he was 12 while running a neighborhood paper route. He found a kitten in the early morning rain and promptly stuffed it into the pocket of his big yellow rain coat, taking it home where it lived for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a frequent visitor of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park until recent years. One of James’ gifts was his wisecracking sense of humor which so often put a smile on a sad face or eased the tension in a difficult situation. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Connolly Caughley; sister, Diane C. Prescott of Memphis; brother, Douglass N. Caughley (Olivia) of Overland Park, KS; niece, Heather Caughley Bratcher (Rob) and two nephews, Robert A. Prescott, Jr. and James Neil Prescott. He is predeceased by his parents, Virginia and James Kerlin Caughley and niece, Lauren Adrian Caughley. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until his memorial service begins at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 21 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Ave., Germantown, TN. Inurnment will immediately follow in the Garden of the Saints at the church with military honors.
