James Billingsley's Obituary
James “Jim” Otis Billingsley, Sr. 89 was born to heaven July 31, 2013. Jim was born June 27, 1924 to Langford and Ruth Billingsley. He was one of twelve children. At the age of 19 he joined the armed services where he served in France during WWII. Gravely wounded, he spent weeks in an Army Hospital, returning to the United States in December 1944. Upon his medical discharge, he was awarded the Purple Heart. Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ruth Billingsley, two children; James O. Billingsley Jr. of Southaven, MS, and Kay Murphy of Bartlett, TN. In addition he leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Jim and Ruth were members of LaBelle Haven Baptist Church in Memphis, TN at the time of his death. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until service time at 11:30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
