Alene,
We want to share some of our remembrances of Jim
for you. The most common comment was that he had
such a pleasant personality, and he met you with a
winning smile. His mealtime prayers were beautiful.
He shared his thoughts from today’s news to his
Biblical insights with each of us. Even though he had
a vast knowledge of history and current affairs, he did
not push his opinion on others.
He tooted his horn on his scooter to remind Kosta that
it was time to go eat! They checked on each other
several times a day. Jim was so helpful to others. He
always noticed if something was missing in the dining
room. Whenever someone had not been talking
much, Jim would make his way over to them to speak
to them. He went out of his way to make newcomers
feel welcome. He was very sensitive to the emotional
needs of others and really cared about people. When
he greeted folks, he was genuinely interested in their
condition. And, he always had a good word for
everyone.
As a brilliant conversationalist, Jim listened to people
and related to others by sharing the good and bad
things of his youth. He lifted our spirits with his
smiles and his humor. Folks always enjoyed sitting
with him at meals and talking with him.
We thank Jim for his services to his country with his
bravery and sacrifices in the armed forces. He didn’t
talk much about those times but he would if asked.
Alene, we pray for you and share in your loss.
