James A. Hight's Obituary
James A. “Jimmy” Hight, Jr., 92, died at 2 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017. Mr. Hight was born August 5, 1924. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, two sons, James and Richard Hight; 3 grandchildren, Brian, Richard, and Lisa. Mr. Hight graduated Southside High School in 1941 at the age of 16. He went to work at WLBJ radio station where he met his wife, Clarice Taylor in Bowling Green, KY. He later left and was employed with American Airlines where he worked for 24 years. At the age of 37, he entered Memphis State University and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree. He began his life’s desire for teaching mathematics at State Technical Institute (Southwest Tennessee Community College). He taught there for 34 years. He retired from State Tech in 2002 as Dean of Mathematics. Visitation will begin at 10:30 and funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery with Rev. Steven Shelton of Faith Presbyterian Church officiating.
