Jackie Ray Rogers Sr.'s Obituary
Jackie Ray Rogers, Sr. was born on March 23, 1935 in Lucy, Tennessee to the late Charlie (Jack) and Susie Mae Smith Rogers. He departed this life at the age of 87 on Thursday, July 21, 2022 surrounded by his family at home.
Jackie attended Woodstock High School. He worked for Kellogg’s as a Warehouse Trainer where he retired in 1992 after 30 years of exemplary service.
On May 29, 1953, he was united in holy matrimony to Nellie Pearl LeSure from Coldwater, Mississippi. They were blessed to celebrate sixty-nine years of marriage and to this union eight children were born.
He professed his life to Christ and was baptized on September 6, 2001 at Boulevard Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a grand-daughter Janiya Shaunelle Savage and three siblings: Charlie Mae Reed, Bobbie Carpenter and Gertrude Wright.
His memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Nellie Pearl LeSure Rogers, children: Debra Mosby (Willie), Jacqueline Mosby (Robert), Brenda Johnson (Charles), Lillian Gould (Alan), Charlotte Rogers Crowder, Stephanie Wright, Paul Rogers (Linda), Melanie Rogers Savage and Jackie Ray Rogers, Jr. (Anne), twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren; siblings: LaVerne Williams (Ezelle), Cecile Mitchell, Shirley Hill and Jessie Lee Rogers.
Also to mourn is a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 with the service to follow at 2:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Family will receive friends in the Parkside Event Center to celebrate the life of Jackie Ray Rogers, Sr. immediately following the entombment.
