Jack Newton Vatter's Obituary
Jack Newton Vatter was born October 14, 1948 in Tate County, MS. He was 1 of 4 children to his beloved mother, Dixie Lou and Kenneth Vatter. Jack spent most his life in Memphis, TN. He was a proud Treadwell Eagle, Memphis State Graduate and attended Harvest Church. He passed peacefully on January 4th, 2021.
He loved his 3 children - Amy Barkley (David), Billy Vatter (Stefani), and Kimberly Boeving (Matt) and 5 grandchildren (Ian, Oliver, Easton, Evelyn, & Jude) more than anything in the world. He also leaves behind his much-loved siblings - Clarence (Linda), Russell (Vicky), and Brenda Chapman (BJ), many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will also be missed by his award-winning feist dog, Pumpkin & 2 cats.
After college Jack was a devoted educator and basketball coach. He moved on to work in the automotive industry for 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with family & friends, being outdoors hunting & fishing, and music. Until his final days he spoke of these things, his family, and of Jesus. He loved helping people and making them laugh, he also wanted people to know the lord and that they were loved.
The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., also on Sunday at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will Mt. Zion Cemetery in Independence, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers the donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude.
