Jack Owen's Obituary
Jack Rowland Owen passed away peacefully at the age of 80 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Jack was a kind, generous and gentle man who was dearly loved by his family and all who knew him. Papa, as he was affectionately known by all, was a graduate of Georgia Tech and a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He served in the United States Army, being stationed in Oklahoma as well as Japan. He later enjoyed a career as a mortgage and loan specialist with Boyle Investment and Union Planters Bank. He had a passion for playing tennis and took great pride in maintaining the antebellum home that he and his wife, Agnes, restored in Collierville, Tennessee. Fishing on the Little Red River in Arkansas was also a favorite pastime. His family was the center of his life and Papa loved sharing Sunday dinners, making homemade ice cream, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 Years, Agnes Lary Owen and his parents Irene Brewer and Frazier Edmond Owen of Germantown, Tennessee. He is survived by his daughters, Missy and husband Jay Brooks and Cathy and husband Pat Wilcheck as well as his grandchildren Whitney and Drew Brooks and Mary Claire and Catie Wilcheck. The family remains truly grateful to all of the staff at The Village of Germantown that lovingly cared for our father during the last nine years of his life. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Holy Apostles in Collierville,Tennessee on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. with internment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.
