Jack Lewis Halliburton's Obituary
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jack Lewis Halliburton, age 94, on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was born in Ripley, Tennessee on August 23, 1929, to Robert Ryland and Mattie Lee Halliburton.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, as well as his siblings Bob, Billy, Lynn, Margie, Patsy, Betty, and Carolyn.
He graduated from Ripley High School where he was a star athlete and Captain of the football team. He then attended the University of Tennessee at Martin on a full football scholarship. In addition to playing football, he was a Golden Gloves boxer. Jack then earned his undergraduate degree from Memphis State University in 1954.
In September of 1954 he and his wife, Dottie, moved to Knoxville where he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee School of Law. He was the president of his legal fraternity and a member of the Moot Court. Jack and Dottie then returned to Memphis where he practiced law for fifty-six years. He was a member of the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. In his free time, he enjoyed trout fishing in Arkansas or wherever he could find a body of water. He was also a member of Christ Methodist Church.
In addition to leaving his wife of seventy years, Dottie, he leaves his son Jack Halliburton (Charlotte), and daughter Beth Halliburton Robison (Whit). He also leaves his grandchildren; Drew Halliburton, Holly King (Jeff), Ben Halliburton (Olivia), and Hallie Robison, and his great-grandchildren, Mallory, and Meredith Halliburton; Avery, Sam, and Cooper King; Javan, Nolan, and Calvin Halliburton. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jack was a kind, honorable, and good man who will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on April 20, 2024, at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, Tennessee. The family would like to thank the compassionate nurses and staff of Baptist Reynolds Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
