Jack C. Garland's Obituary
Jack C. Garland, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2023. He was born March 9, 1932, to Dewey C. Garland and Lillian Powell Garland. He was a lifelong Memphian and Owner of Jack Garland & Associates. Jack was a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a past board member of the Life Underwriters Association. He was a past President of the Whitehaven Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Jack was a member of Christ Church, where he served in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry with his wife, Carole.
Jack leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Carole Sellers Garland; Daughter, Jackie (J. Kim) Burstyne; Son, J. Gary (Kathy) Garland, and Grandchildren, Melanie (Brett) Berg, Joey (Katie) Burstyne, Laura (James) Corder, John (Ashley) Garland, Kathryn (Gene) Lerner, Allison (Alex) Greven; and seven Great Grandchildren, Connor, Hannah, Ava, Benjamin, Leo, and Arthur.
He is preceded in death by his three brothers: Lanier E. Garland, Sr., Kenneth R. Garland, Sr., and Dr. D. David Garland.
The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, TN., for their dedicated and compassionate care.
Services will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverside Chapel, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
