J C Simmons' Obituary
J.C. Simmons was called home to be with Christ on June 13, 2009. He was born to William C. Simmons and Mary H. Simmons in 1953 in Columbus, OH and moved to Memphis, TN in 1960 when his father was transferred to Goldsmith’s.J.C. was a friend to all and was a constant giver to those in need. He loved his fast cars, fast boats and fast bikes. Harley Davidson and music filled his mind along with his remodeling projects, none too large, or too small. Even in the last few years as his health declined, J.C. built computers and rebuilt Fender guitars, never satisfied being idle, always interested in bringing joy to others. Above all, J.C. adored his wife Carol and his daughter Amanda and loved to see them happy and enjoying life.J.C. is survived his wife, Carol Wakeman Simmons and daughter, Amanda L. Simmons as well as his sister Becky and her husband Malcolm Morris of Houston, TX and his brother David Simmons of Godfrey, Illinois.Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 16th at Hope Presbyterian Church.Carol and Amanda would like to thank all who have supported them through J.C’s extended illness and transplant.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made in J.C.’s name to his favorite charities, Memphis Union Mission (www.memphisunionmission.org) and Living Water International (www.water.cc).
