Ivan James Hollowell's Obituary
Ivan James Hollowell, 90, stepped into God’s presence on November 11, 2010 after a short illness associated with a fall. The family will receive friends Monday, November 15 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Bellevue Baptist Church – Pollard Chapel. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. He was born May 25, 1920, in Calhoun City, Mississippi to John and May Terry Hollowell. He was predeceased by a sister, Robbie Louise McDonald, and a brother Bertrom Hollowell. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, and a step-daughter, Suzanne Wood. The couple had recently moved from Bartlett to Greenville, SC to be cared for by his niece, Peggy Chaney, and her daughter, Lynne Howard. Other nieces and nephews are Ross and Brenda Burgdorf, Dale and Debbie Lang, Greg Sassman, Jack and Patti Sassman, John and Judy Willhoite, and numerous great nieces and nephews. The Kirby Lakes neighbors became the couple’s Tennessee family. Robert Gill was like an adopted son, along with his wife, Marie, and their daughter, Stella. Ivan was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and the Living Word Sunday School class. He retired in 1982 after working for International Harvester or 34 years. He was a World War II veteran. All who knew Ivan loved him. Memorials may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church or Love Worth Finding Ministry.
