Inspector William "Bill" Sears' Obituary
Inspector William “Bill” Austin Sears, II, 61, of Byhalia, MS died June 15, 2009 at Methodist Germantown Hospital. Inspector Sears was called home to Christ after a short illness on Monday. He was born William Austin Sears, II, on November 21, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kay Cunningham Sears, his two children, Kevin Sears (Jennifer), and Carrie White (Wiley), and one grandson, Austin Howeth. He received the Bronze Star for Valor while serving his country in Vietnam. He also served his community as a Deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office from 1972, to date, with a final rank of Inspector. He was devoted to the Tennessee Safety Network and the CSID team of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, fulfilling his lifelong desire for a support system for police officers, dispatchers and their families involved in Critical Incidents. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Noon at Hope Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 to 8. Interment will be at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be sent to either the Tennessee Public Safety Network 580 Lakeshore Drive Old Hickory, Tennessee 37138, or Hope Presbyterian Church 8500 Walnut Grove Road Cordova, TN 38018.
