Ida White Brewer's Obituary
Ida W Brewer, 92, of Memphis TN, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in her sleep on the early morning of January 1, 2023, at Quince Rehab Facility.
Ida was born on March 25, 1930, in Cub Lake, MS on the Davis Hill, to Walter L. Davis and Addie L. Davis. Ida attended primary school in Eudora, MS and graduated from Eudora High School in 1947.
Ida, who was commonly known as "Aunt Sister" or "Maw Maw" to her immediate family lived in Memphis, TN the majority of her life. She married her husband William W. Brewer Sr in August 1950. Ida and William went on to have three children, Rise Harris, William W Brewer II, and Cindy Durrett.
Ida spent her entire life as a devoted wife and mother. After her children were school age, she began working for Shelby County Police Department as a crossing guard, where she later retired. Later in life, Ida assisted part time with the cantine at The Med, helping the blind(Judy) count money and stock the vending.
Ida was a devoted Christian and a member of Temple Baptist. She loved her family and was a huge sports fan. Memphis Tigers were her absolute favorite!
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, all of her siblings, and many other loved ones.
She leaves to cherish sweet memories: Three children; Rise Harris, William W Brewer II, Cindy Durrett; daughter-in-love Kimberly Brewer; her grandchildren Charles Harris(Lydia), Joshua Durrett(Alyse), Yvonne Brewer, Krista Durrett, Matthew Roberts(Bradley), Jesse Michael; and great grandchildren, Nicholas White, Aiden Harris, Carley Harris, Maleek Maxwell, Zander Michael, and Myles Maxwell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 5 at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home with a visitation starting at 1:00. Memorial Park Funeral Home 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis TN
