Ida Arnette's Obituary
Ida Weatherford Arnette, 83, passed away on Sunday night, August 16, 2009 at the King’s Daughters and Sons Home in Bartlett, Tennessee from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.She moved to Memphis, TN in 1944 to work for the Louisville Paper Company. Shortly after moving to Memphis, she met her future husband, James Arnette. Ida and Jim married on March 5, 1948. After taking time off to raise her sons, she returned to work at Sears Roebuck from 1963 to her retirement in 1987. Ida and Jim were charter members of Christ United Methodist Church throughout their lives. Ida loved her Church, her East Memphis house of 50 years, taking care of her flowers, MSU basketball and needlepoint but valued her family and friends most in life.She was the widow of James Boren Arnette and leaves two sons; James Kenneth, of Memphis and Alan Duane Arnette of Fort Collins, Colorado. Ida, born Ida Vivian Weatherford on January 31, 1926 in Hickman County, Kentucky, was a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister to her large family. She was preceded in death by her parents; Turner and Lillian Weatherford, brothers; Walter and Maurice, sisters; Kaye, Cressie and Christine. She is survived by her brother, Bill Weatherford and wife Geneva, sisters; Hazel Leath, Nada Hewitt and Caroline Little. She is also survived by her nieces Sue Phillips and Nancy Miller.The family will be receiving friends on Friday, August 21 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
