Hubert Paul Goodwin's Obituary
Hubert Paul Goodwin was born June 2, 1935 in New Albany, MS and died August 10, 2015 at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leone and James Goodwin. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn and two brothers, James Edward Goodwin (Joan) of Alpharetta, GA and Richard Burton Goodwin (Dawn) of Gallatin, TN.He grew up in New Albany and later moved to Memphis. Paul was a graduate of what is now University of Memphis and became a Certified Public Accountant. He joined the staff of the University in the Bursar’s Office in the area of Student Aid and Loans. Paul served in the United States Army and four years in the Army reserves.He was a devoted and active member of the United Methodist Church. He was a member of Calvary until its closure and then joined Madison Heights, where he was a member until its closure. Paul was presently a member of St. Luke’s. He loved music and sang in all three choirs. He used his expertise in finances on many boards and committees.Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 15 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. all at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 480 S. Highland St.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
