Howard Pinkston Sr.'s Obituary
Howard Pinkston Sr., was born May 21, 1922, in Cordova, Tennessee to Dr. Greene Fort Pinkston and Penella Horne Pinkston and passed away on February 11, 2018. He was one of nine children and is survived by sisters Annette Thorpe and Pauline Oden.He is also survived by his wife of sixty-six (66) years, Joyce; three children, Paula (Michael Watkins), Howard, Jr. (Roxann) and Gene (Teddi); six grandchildren, Steven Watkins, Adrienne Watkins, Devin Pinkston, Leigh Pinkston, Garrett Pinkston, and Brian Pinkston.He was raised and worked on his father’s farm in Cordova, Tennessee. After completion of his service in the U.S. Navy, he returned to the farm which became his life-long work. Howard was an outstanding farmer, always trying new programs for which he received many awards.Although the farm consumed much of his time, he always found time for family and to participate in civic activities. He served on the local Draft Board, the Planning Commission, and the Commission for the Acquisition of the Agricenter.Services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, February 16, 2018. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. and funeral at 2 pm with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
