Howard "Roy" Berkenstock's Obituary
Howard R. “Roy” Berkenstock, Jr., of Memphis, TN, and Gulf Shores, AL, lost his battle with esophageal cancer on March 10, 2014. A memorial service celebrating Roy’s life will be conducted by the Reverend Mark Frazier at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 14 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to IRIS Symphony Orchestra (1801 Exeter Ave, Germantown, TN, 38134) and the Mary Galloway Home (3437 Waynoka Ave, Memphis, TN, 38111). Roy was born May 6, 1935, in Norristown, PA, to Howard R. and Muriel (Turner) Berkenstock. He married Mary Louise (Tazioli) Berkenstock on November 10, 1962. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, in which he served as a Naval Aviator. Most recently, Roy served as counsel to Wyatt Tarrant & Combs LLC in Memphis, where he was a member of the Intellectual Property Protection & Litigation Service Team. He is survived by Marilou Berkenstock, his loving wife of 51 years; his children: daughter Amy L.B. Frazier (husband Mark W. Frazier) of Bristol, VA; son O. Lee Berkenstock (wife LeAnn S. Berkenstock) of Cordova, TN; daughter Rebecca J. Berkenstock and son Adam R. Berkenstock, both of Memphis, TN; and his “Lucky 7” beloved granddaughters: Mary Caroline, Muriel Cason, and Meredith Claire Berkenstock of Cordova, TN, and Anna Marika, Emilia Irene, Evelyn Rebecca, and Margaret Gail Frazier of Bristol, VA. Roy also is survived by his brothers: James T. Berkenstock (wife Jean H. Berkenstock) of Evanston, IL, and Gary F. Berkenstock (wife Janet R. Berkenstock) of Seattle, WA.
