Houston Walker Longino's Obituary
Houston Walker Longino, Jr., 94, passed away September 13, 2009 at his home in La Habra, California. He was born in Hazelburst, MS in 1914 and remained in Mississippi.He graduated from Mississippi State College. After college he was commissioned in the military as part of the Air Cadet Program. Being a career Air Force officer he served in leadership positions in a variety of bases throughout the US and the world. He retired with the rank of full Colonel after 30 years of service but continued his work for the military by teaching Air Force ROTC at Raleigh-Egypt High School, Memphis, TN. Houston loved to hunt, fish and boat and had a marvelous sense of humor. He loved God and it showed in the way he always put others first and gave of himself in any way he could. Being a devoted Christian he served as a deacon of his church when he lived in Kansas City.He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen Hagans Longino. Houston is survived by wife of eight years, Elizabeth Foley Longino of La Habra, CA and her children, James Foley, Melanie Foley and Brook Foley. He is also survived by his children, Houston Walker Longino, III and his wife, Beverly Minert Longino of Merigold, MS and his daughter, Margaret Ann Longion of Bedford, TX.A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Memorial Park Funeral and Cemetery, with a visitation one hour prior.
