Homer Lee Fortner's Obituary
Homer Lee Fortner passed away at his daughter’s home on June 14, 2009. Homer was born to the late William Oscar Fortner and Leilia Bell Thomas Fortner on June 27, 1922 in Mantee, MS.He served in the US Army 20th Armored Infantry Battalion 10th Armored “Tiger” Division during WW II years 1942-1946. He retired from International Harvester in 1981.Homer was a former member of Berclair Baptist Church in Memphis and a current member of Parkway Baptist Church in Hernando; a faithful servant of his Lord Jesus Christ.Homer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roxie Rotenberry Fortner; brothers, William Harold, Harry Thomas, Wallace Sims Fortner; sisters, Ida Estelle, Arietta Arrington Fortner and Cora Mae Barnwell.Homer is survived by his daughter, Martha Young and her husband Frank Young; granddaughters, Gwyn and her husband Robert Rowland, Laura and her husband Mark Stokes; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alexandria and Candace Rowland all of Hernando; brothers, Buck and his wife Norma Jean Fortner of Lambert, MS, Joe Fortner of Oxford, MS; sister, Louise and her husband Paul Varden of Leeds, AL.Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 pm, Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2009. All services being held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
