Hobert "Lyndall" Rich's Obituary
Hobert "Lyndall" Rich, 84, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in Conway, Arkansas. Born May 24, 1936, he was the son of the late Hobert and Helen Ely Rich. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Anne Jackson Rich and a brother, John "Barry" Rich.
Dr. Rich earned his Doctorate from Syracuse University and was a retired University of Memphis professor dedicating his life work to special education. He was a United States Army and Marine veteran. Lyndall also enjoyed being a genealogist and writer of mystery novels. He was admiringly known for impacting so many lives through his compassion, diplomacy, intellect, and wit.
Lyndall is survived by his daughters, Susan Lynne Rich (Dwayne Sisk) of Conway and Nancey Rich (Todd Arick) of Destin, Florida; grandchildren, Wilson Rich Crater (Jessica) and Bryant Lyndall Crater (Courtney); great grandchildren, Anjali, Jackson, and Maxine; a sister-in-law, Patricia Rich, and nephews, Kendall Rich and Jeff Rich.
A private family memorial will be held at the Memorial Garden at the First Unitarian Church of Memphis.
The family requests that memorials be made to the First Unitarian Church of Memphis or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital & National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
