Helen Marie Yates, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on her 95th birthday, December 29, 2024.
Born on December 29, 1929, Helen was a vibrant and accomplished woman who brought joy and love to all who knew her. A dedicated professional, she enjoyed a long and successful career as a realtor with Century 21, where her passion and expertise left a lasting impact.
Helen had a remarkable zest for life and a generous spirit. Known as the life of the party, she cherished time spent with family and friends, filling every gathering with laughter and warmth. Her love of art, music, and travel inspired those around her, and her adventurous nature made every moment unforgettable.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Conway Yates, in 1989, and her grandson, Conway David Hankins, who passed away in 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Cherry, and Cathy Hankins, as well as her cherished granddaughters, Shelby Grice, and Suzanne Hughes, and Rhonda Cherry-Kelly. Helen also leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a life well-lived.
Helen’s memory will forever live in our hearts as a beacon of love, joy, and inspiration. A celebration of Helen’s incredible life will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
