Helen Prentiss' Obituary
Helen Meek Prentiss, 83, Memphis,TN,went home to be with the Lord that she served so faithfully on August 11, 2010. Hodie was born in Charleston,West Virginia where she married James H. Prentiss and raised their five children before moving to Memphis in 1971. She was a loving mother and friend with a great passion for life and the Lord. She loved to travel, garden, cook, and gather the family together. She looked for the positive in everything and was an encouragement and blessing to so many. She was an active member of Balmoral Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her best friend and companion, Harry White, her sister Pat Garnett, her adoring children, Bobbin Franklin, Jim and Judy Prentiss, Suzi Prentiss and Rusty Palmer, Steve Prentiss, and Becky and Mark Melton, and her fourteen grandchildren, Abby, Ciela, Brett, Cody, Cole, Hayley, Jeffrey, Jordan, Kelly, Lindsay, Madison, Melissa, Steve Jr., Wesley, and three great grandchildren, Calli, Corbin, and Savannah. She will be immeasurably missed by all who loved her dearly. The family requests that memorials be sent to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Memphis Food Bank, or Memphis Union Mission. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private graveside service will be held at 9 am on Sunday. The Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m., August 15, 2010 at Balmoral Presbyterian Church in Memphis,TN.
