Helen O'Brien's Obituary
Helen Walker O’Brien passed away on March 16, 2009 at Applingwood Health Care Center. Helen was born to the late Clifford and Mary Abblene Walker on December 30, 1920 in Oklahoma. She graduated from Southside High School in 1938. She was passionate about volunteering for her community and had over 6500 hours of dedicated time. She volunteered for St. Francis, Methodist Hospital and Hospice. She will always be remembered in her “Pink Lady” uniform. She was a longtime choir member of St. George’s Episcopal Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. O’Brien, Sr. and her sister, Martha Hess.She is survived by her children; Kevin and his wife Mary, Jim O’Brien, Jr. and his wife Patty and their daughter Cheri Presley and her husband Jim. She also leaves her grandchildren, Kelly Toney and her husband Tom, Shannon Presley and his wife Marcia, and Michael and Mary O’Brien. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Sean, Bryant and Emily.The family would like to thank Methodist Germantown, Applingwood and Mama’s special “Angels” as she referred to them. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church.
