Hazel Beck Thomasson's Obituary
Hazel Beck Thomasson was born on December 15, 1908 in Union City, Tn., and died at St. Francis Hospital on November 22, 2009. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, and is survived by her daughter, Janet Templeton of Memphis, and nephew, Herbert Beck, Jr. of Argyle, Texas. Mrs. Thomasson was the widow of Elvin C. Thomasson, former branch manager for Armour & Company in Memphis and Montgomery, Ala. A talented seamstress, homemaker and cook, Mrs. Thomasson shared her gifts with both friends and family. Her grandfather, Rev. John E. Beck was president of Beck, Bransford and Ekdahl Furnitures Co. in Union City. He was also a member of the Memphis Methodist Episcopal Conference from 1866 to 1882. Her father, H. A. Beck was president of the Canvas Decoy Company in Union City, where decoy ducks were made. Her mother, Ollie Brown Beck met her husband while working for the company painting the ducks. They lived on Harrison Street in Union City. Funeral Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Fireside Chapel at 2:30 p. m., Tuesday, November 24, 2009. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
