Harry Lawrence Wilson's Obituary
Harry Lawrence Wilson, of Memphis, TN passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018. Harry was born in Memphis on July 23, 1924 to parents Thomas Ancil and Sophia Ruth Wilson. He grew up in Memphis and graduated from Treadwell High School. After high school he went into the Marine Corp. serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After returning from the war he attended the University of Georgia in Athens and later Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA. He met his future wife, Fay, in Milledgeville, and they married in Memphis, TN on September 19, 1947, and began raising their family. Harry moved his family to Johnson City, TN when he transferred with his company in 1958. After retirement Harry and Fay moved back to Georgia in 1993. Harry and Fay returned to Memphis in 2016. Harry was dedicated to his wife, his family, his church, and his golf game.He was preceded in death by his wife Fay in 2016. Also preceding him in death were his son, David Lawrence Wilson, his daughter, Barbara Kay Wilson McNeese, a grandson, Joseph Nichols, two brothers, Wallace A. and Earnest C. Wilson, and three sisters, Vivian Lowe, Beatrice Pettit, and Lorene Nunnelee.Harry is survived by daughters, Pamela Wilson, Rhonda Young (Clay), and Susan Duffell (Chad), son in law Jim McNeese (Jan), sisters, Delores Kallaher, and Gladys Krausnick, granddaughters, Erin McNeese Chambers (Jeremy), Sara Beth Raab, Alexandra Duffell, great grandchildren, Sienna and Maddox Raab, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 26 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations in his honor can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
