Harry Walker Lofton's Obituary
Harry W. Lofton, aged 79, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 3rd, 2024, in Lakeland, TN. Born in Raleigh, Mississippi, Harry was the son of Curtis and Minnie (Boykin) Lofton. He was a devoted family man who cherished his time with loved ones.
Harry is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kathryn (Stark) Lofton. He is also survived by his former wife, N. Joan (Roane) Lofton, the mother of his children. He leaves behind his daughter Pamela Wells, who is married to Michael Wells. He was a proud grandfather to three granddaughters: Lindsey Wells, Kelsi Wells, and Sara Green, who is married to John Green and has three children: Curtis, Carson, and Iris.
He is also survived by his two stepsons, Brad Bauer, who is married to April Bauer and has three daughters, Alyssa, Scarlett, and Grace, and Adam Bauer, who is married to Lindsay Bauer and has two sons, Ben and Zach.
Harry was predeceased by his son, Shane Lofton, and his siblings Helen Butler, Bobbie Bishop, Martin Lofton, Paul Lofton, and Mac Lofton. He leaves behind two living siblings, Dixie Simpson and Hut Lofton, along with many nieces and nephews who fondly remember him as the "fun Uncle."
For 36 years, Harry was a dedicated agent for Nationwide Insurance, building his agency one policy at a time with hard work and determination. Harry was known for his selflessness and generosity, always willing to go above and beyond to help others in any way he could. He was highly respected within his community and admired by his colleagues at Nationwide. Harry took great pride in mentoring other agents, always willing to share his knowledge and experience to help others succeed.
Well-known in his neighborhood, Harry loved sharing the food he grew and cooked with friends and neighbors. He was also an enthusiastic poker player, often gathering with others to enjoy a good game.
Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his garden, where he found peace and joy.
Harry’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Services:
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM.
Burial will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors or the Memphis Union Mission in honor of Harry’s generous spirit.
