Harry Elery Eison's Obituary
Harry Elery Eison was born December 25, 1927 and went home to the Lord May 24, 2022. He was born in Dyersburg Tennessee to Mettie Crum Eison and Robert Elery Eison. He was preceded in death by his mother, dad, brother Robert Delmar Eison and grandson Nicholas Joseph Dahlke. The family moved to Frayser, Tennessee when he was a child. He attended Frayser, Humes, Millington and graduated from Christian Brothers High School. He also completed some college classes.
Harry married Jean Katherine (Gill) Eison in 1949-1987. During their 38 years of marriage, they enjoyed fishing, traveling and time with family and friends. They had three children Robert Harry Eison (Judy), Kathy Eison Cooper and Susan Eison Dahlke. They also had six grandchildren, Christopher Michael Dahlke, James Robert Eison (Heather) Dr. Alicia Cooper Andrews (Jeff), Nicholas Joseph Dahlke, Jonathan Clarke Eison (Ashleigh), and Katherine “Katie” Elizabeth Eison and 10 Great Grandchildren. Harry was very active in the church (assisting in the starting of Georgian Hill Methodist Church), his children’s schools (President of the PTA), Boy Scouts, and coached Little League Baseball for many years.
After the passing of Jean, Harry married Frances Eison in 1988-2019. During their 31 years of marriage they enjoyed attending Memphis State Basketball games, camping, traveling and fishing. His family expanded to include another daughter (LuAnn Biggs Kelley) two more grandchildren Jereme Kelley (Erica) and Audrey Kelley and four more great grandchildren.
Harry was a hardworking, self-taught person. He would do anything for family and friends. He had a dry sense of humor that sometimes one must listen very carefully to hear. His love of fishing directed the purchase of his home away from home at Horseshoe Lake. This he shared with family and his church friends with an annual fish fry. Let us celebrate his life today because he has left this world and has “gone fishing”.
