In loving memory of our father, Harry Clark White, born October 13, 1924, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and died on November 1st, 2015. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery alongside his wife, Nancy Claire Peebles White and his beloved son, Jeffrey Peebles White. Upon graduation from high school in 1942 he entered Pennsylvania State College. After completing his first year of college, he enlisted in the Navy. He received considerable training in Radio School, Submarine School, Advanced Radio School, and Advanced Sound School. On New Year’s Day, 1945, he left the United States for duty in the Admiralty Islands and eventually Australia as part of Submarine Relief Crew. At the war’s end he was discharged on April 4th, 1946. He then enrolled in Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1949. Harry met Nancy Peebles in 1950 and they later married on June 30th, 1951 in Crafton, Pennsylvania. They were blessed with three children, Priscilla, Jeff, and Scott. Harry was employed by Old Republic Life Insurance Company and was a faithful employee for 32 years. He retired as Vice President in 1989. He earned his CLU during that time. Harry has been an active member of the Presbyterian Church going as far back as 1951. He became a founding member of Balmoral Presbyterian Church in Memphis in 1968, and it became an integral part of his life. He faithfully served the church for 47 years with his time, talents and generosity. At the time of his death, he was the sole surviving charter member. He was very proud of this accomplishment and shared with the congregation the story of going door to door to recruit new members. Harry tirelessly gave his time and talents to many organizations throughout Memphis and was respected throughout the community. He was a loving father, grandfather to his only granddaughter, Camerann, and great grandfather to Skylar and Rylee. He was loyal and faithful and enjoyed the best that life had to offer. He was always available to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was stubborn, fiercely independent and loved the finer things in life yet was very frugal. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his family, and he will be greatly missed. We wish Harry eternal peace as he is joined in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
