Harrison I. Hughes' Obituary
Harrison I. Hughes, Jr., 83, died peacefully at home Sunday, May 31, 2015. He spent his career in honorable service to his country. After serving 20 year in the United States Air Force, he worked until retirement at the Defense Depot, Memphis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Carol Hughes, his son, David Harrison Hughes, and his brothers, Dow, Raymond and James Hughes. He leaves his daughters, Linda Hughes Hanson (Doug), Carol Hughes McCaul, Debra Hughes Oare, and his daughter-in-law, Nam Ye Hughes. He leaves his sister, Virginia Hughes Thibeault (Larry), and brothers Stanley Hughes (Nancy) and Johnny Hughes (Luz), his sister in law, Janice Hughes, and his brother-in-law, Lee Sturm. He leaves grandchildren Sarah Hawkins, Hannah and Leah Hanson, Evans McCaul, Brian and Emily Oare, and Kimberly Hassler (Jon) and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jon David Hassler. During his illness, he was lovingly tended to by Sarita Jones, and he loved her like a daughter. He also left a large and loving extended family, included many nieces and nephews and their families, and other friends and members of his church families at Berclair Baptist Church, where he was a member, and previously, Cordova Baptist Church, which he and his wife were faithful members. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 4, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 5, also at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. He loved animals, especially his dogs Lucy and Sally, and supported Mid South Therapy Dogs & Friends of Germantown, and Mid South Spay & Neuter of Memphis.
