Harris Holloway's Obituary
HARRIS MARTIN HOLLOWAY, 97, died Thursday at his home in Memphis. Visitation will be Monday, November 22, at 1 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2 pm. Mr. Holloway was born in Water Valley, MS, moved to Memphis, graduated from Central High School and was a life-long Memphian. He was a U. S. Army Veteran ,served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a long-time member of Lindenwood Christian Church and a Boy Scout leader for many years. He worked for Pidgeon-Thomas Iron Co. for 39 years before his retirement. Mr. Holloway was the son of White Martin and Sarah Elizabeth Harris Holloway. He was the widower of Virginia McClain Stroupe Holloway and leaves a son, William Martin (Bill) Holloway of Columbia, TN., and two step-sons, John Robert Walker, III, of Memphis and George Lee Walker of Oxford, MS., and three grandchildren, McClain Borum Holloway, John Robert Walker IV and Emily How Walker. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be sent to Lindenwood Christian Church, the Chickasaw Council of the Boy Scouts, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
