Harriet Lynne Hobson's Obituary
Harriet Lynne Hobson, mother and lifelong resident of Memphis, TN, gained her wings on December 24, 2022 at the age of 56 while at her residence in Whitehaven, TN.
Harriet is survived by her only child; Christina Jackson; her two brothers, Dallas Hobson Smith and Henry Hobson - Franklin; daughter in-law Franziska Jackson, and several friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her long time partner; Tommie Coleman; mother; Henrietta DeShields; and father; Dave Hughes.
Harriet was born in Memphis, TN on June 23, 1966 to Henrietta Hobson-DeShields and Dave Hughes. She graduated high school from Melrose High School in 1985 and worked at Leaf Bubble Gum Factory as a Line Supervisor. In November 1986, she welcomed her daughter, who was the most important part of her life. Harriet also served as an activist with ACORN International/ Community Organizations International from 2003 – 2006 speaking out on billing injustice with a local utility company.
Harriet was a devoted friend. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends at any gathering, telling jokes, and playing with children. She often bought gifts for people, even if she had little on her own. Harriet loved her friends. Friendship was important to her, and maintaining that bond with high school friends, to those wedded into the family brought joy to her heart. Displaying love and affection is what made her day. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, brothers, family, friends, and all who knew her.
The visitation is scheduled for 1pm, and funeral service is scheduled for 2pm on January 7, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119.
