Harold Lindsey Yancey's Obituary
Harold Lindsey Yancey, 85 of Eads, TN passed away November 2, 2016. He was a member of Fisherville Baptist Church; he served in the United State Air Force and retired from MLG&W after 36 years of service. Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laverne Slover Yancey. Harold’s sister Justyne introduced Harold and Laverne. After this introduction Harold and Laverne soon eloped and began a wonderful 59 years together.Harold is also survived by four children and eight grandchildren; daughters, Janet Hensley (Rob), Judy Pearson (Mickey); sons, Randall Yancey (Debbie), Cary Yancey (Valerie), TN; grandchildren Erin Hensley Blackwell (David), Lindsey Pearson, Olivia Yancey, Taylor Yancey, Reagan Yancey, Kirk Hensley, Brad Pearson, Jonathan Yancey and one great grandson on the way.Harold was an avid runner participating in races well into his sixties. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture for each of his grandchildren. Harold, with the help of Laverne, always had a large garden growing vegetables, which they canned each year.Harold and Laverne hosted a week long camp for all the grandkids every summer. The camp included trips to amusement parks, fun at the lake and time to allow his eight grandchildren to bond and build closer relationships.Harold was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertie Yancey and his sister, Justyne Clemons. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 5th from 1:00 p.m. until service time of 3:00 p.m. at Fisherville Baptist Church, 11893 Macon Road Eads, TN. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fisherville Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119, (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.”
