Harold Wayne Ray's Obituary
Harold Wayne Ray, 88, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2022 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
He was born on October 20, 1933 in Winona, Mississippi to the late James Otis Ray and Catherine Tollison Ray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Billye Ray.
Survivors include his daughter, Alexandra Ray Brown, son-in-law, Jerry Brown, and his beloved granddaughters, Ellen Brown and Clara Brown, all of Destin Florida.
After graduating college, Harold joined the United States Navy in 1955. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Memphis and worked for Firestone in accounting and attained his master’s degree from Memphis State. It was at Firestone where he met his beloved wife, Billye, to whom he was married for 59 years until her death in 2020. Harold and Billye lived their lives to the fullest in Memphis TN, making countless friends and helping many people. They were active members of Northview Baptist Church in Frayser and then Bellevue Baptist Church. Harold retired from International Paper Company and after retirement, Harold and Billye spent most of their time traveling and spending time with their granddaughters and many friends. In the last years of their lives, Harold and Billye moved to Destin, Florida where they both continued to make many friends and brighten many lives. After a separation of a few years, Harold and Billye are together again.
Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN.
