Harold Reems McKeel's Obituary
Harold Reems McKeel, 80, minister of the Gospel of Christ for 60 years, passed away on February 27, 2017 at Methodist University hospital surrounded by family. He was born September 8, 1936 in Tiptonville, TN to the late Ralph and Elsie Lay McKeel. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan and spent many summers and vacations in Tiptonville, TN with his grandparents, Levi and Eva Eaker Lay. He was an active member of the Germantown church of Christ, and was involved in teaching and preaching, and a great encourager to many. His ministry of 60 years took place in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee and Mississippi. He was blessed to travel to Trinidad and Ghana, Africa to spread the Gospel of Christ. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 48 years, Janet Lewis McKeel, and an infant son, Scott Allen McKeel. He is survived by his son, Mark Lewis McKeel; daughter, Marsha Lynn McKeel Vann (Tim); grandchildren Rachel Vann Bowen (Chad), Abigail Vann Chen (Jim), and grandson Noah Vann (Megan). Visitation will be 9-10 am, Thursday, March 2 and funeral service to immediately follow at the Germantown church of Christ. Memorials can be sent to the Harold and Janet McKeel Scholarship fund at Freed-Hardeman University.
