Harold Lee McDonald's Obituary
Harold Lee McDonald, 76, of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024. Born on November 21, 1947, to Roy A. McDonald, Sr. And Elzora McDonald in Memphis, TN. Harold was the youngest of five children. He was preceded in death by his siblings Roy Jr., Joyce, William, and Ronald.
Harold graduated from Humes High School in 1965 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Christian Brothers University. His career in the railroad industry spanned over 40 years, where he worked as a Yard Master and Switchman for CSX (formerly L&N Railroad). Dedicated and hardworking, Harold also served as a union representative, always advocating for his fellow workers. Upon his retirement, he pursued his passion for cars by opening a car lot in Brunswick, TN which he operated for 15 years.
In addition to his work, Harold enjoyed a great game of golf and was an avid sports fan. He was a loyal supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Kansas City Chiefs, and he spent many afternoons cheering on his favorite teams. Harold’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose laughter and happiness filled his heart with pride and love.
Harold was also a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. He served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, living his faith through service and compassion. His commitment to his church community was an essential part of his life, and he found strength and peace in his faith.
Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Rhonda McDonald; his daughters, Stephanie Eubanks and Shelly Fisher; his grandchildren, Michael Andrew Carneal (Lisa), Amber Jernigan (Roger), and Ericka Conlon (Tyler); and his great-grandchildren, Riley, Drew, Cameron, Delilah, Kinsley, and Derek. His legacy of love, kindness, and humor will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Harold will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to be a part of his life. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
