Harold Buehler's Obituary
We Will Miss You, Harold Buehler (Born: August 29, 1948; Died: June 6, 2010) Harold E. Buehler, Sr. 61, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away suddenly Sunday evening in his garden doing what he loved best. Harold was the husband of Jo Ellen Schaeffer Buehler. Harold was one of Memphis’ largest affordable home builders. From his early days as a chemistry, physics and math teacher in the public school system, somehow he found the time to become a track coach and formed the North Memphis Track Club. He mentored many young Memphians and helped them to excel and succeed in life and will always be remember as “Coach Buehler”. Harold touched their lives in so many positive ways with his sense of humor, intelligence, energy and generosity. And let’s not forget “Practice was 364 days a year!” (and he meant it). From the North Memphis Track Club, Rochelle Stevens became an Olympic Gold Medalist for the United States. In 1985 Harold made a career change to real estate. This is where he realized that his former students and their families in the inner city needed affordable housing. Affordable housing was also expanded to the areas surrounding Memphis. Later as he merged his appreciation of business with his keen sense of community, he built a successful team of family members and employees that helped make the vision of affordable housing come true. Part of that team is his wife, Jo Ellen Schaeffer Buehler, his sons, Harold Eugene Buehler, Jr. and Geoff Buehler, step-daughter, Ashleigh Morgan, stepson, T.J. Campbell, consultant David Upton, and long time accountant, Ellen Seboldt. For those he worked with and those who knew him in the community he was known as “Mr. B.” and will forever be remembered that way. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. John A. Buehler and wife Josie Dell, grandsons Zachery and Peyton Buehler. His is survived by his wife Jo Ellen Schaeffer Buehler, his two sons, Geoffrey Buehler and Harold E. Buehler, Jr. and wife Teresa, his step-daughter Ashleigh R. Morgan and his step-son Thomas R. Campbell, Jr. (TJ), grandchildren Christopher Morgan, Geoffrey Buehler, Jr, Gabriel Buehler, Christopher Buehler, Trey Buehler, Skylar Buehler, Elizabeth Buehler, Trevor Buehler, and Anthony Buehler, his loving sister Jane M. Taylor and her husband Fred, and brother Don Buehler and his wife Carolyn and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his loving and dedicated dogs, Max and Sir Ollie Buehler. “Harold your light will continue to shine in our hearts and minds as we will remember that you “walked your talk” by earning your daily bread, and sharing a slice with those less fortunate.” Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday at 12:30 at Lindenwood Christian Church with burial to follow at the historic Elmwood Cemetery.
