Hal Gideon Cowart's Obituary
Hal Gideon Cowart died at his home May 6, 2013, after a long illness. He was born to Faye Gideon Cowart and Melton Cowart in Tupelo, MS on November 3, 1920. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served his country in the D-Day invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, for which he received the Bronze Star. After his discharge from the Army, he spent his career with USDA, Cotton Division as a cotton classer. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Elsie Baker Cowart; his daughter, Linda Faye Cowart; and a cousin, Nancy Ogle Pooley of Huddleston, VA. He was a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church.
