Gwen Owen's Obituary
Gwen Owen born February 8, 1921 passed away June 29, 2017. She was preceded by her father, T.M. London, her mother, Lura London, and her sister, Dottie Penrod. She leaves a son, Paul Russell, a daughter-in-law, Linda Russell; a grandson, James Russell, a granddaughter-in-law, Lauren Russell; two great- granddaughters, Anna Claire, and Mary James Russell. She also leaves a brother, James London, and a niece, Lisa Lane. Gwen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and at one time a member of the choir, and in the women’s circle. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and the Order of Amaranth. Gwen was born in Dyer, Tennessee, and moved to Jackson when she was young. She graduated from Jackson High School, moved to Washington, DC during WWII and had her only child. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee after the war and went to work for the United States Post Office until she retired. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., and funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday July 5 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.“Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.”
