Guy Treece's Obituary
Guy E. Treece, 92, of Memphis, died May 14, 2013 at Baptist East Hospital. He was born in Greene County, Arkansas and was a graduate of Walcott High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State College, Jonesboro and Master’s in School Administration and Supervision from Memphis State University. During World War II he served in the U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces in the Pacific theater, and he retired from the Naval Reserves in 1975 with 30 years active reserve service with the rank of Commander. He was employed by Memphis Area Vocational Technical School for 25 years, first as a sales instructor, then Assistant Director, and finally as Director for 15 years when he retired in 1989. He was a charter member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church and a longstanding member of the Fidelis Sunday School class. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America and was a life member of the Naval Reserve Association. He was a member of the Memphis Story Tellers’ League and Greentrees Civic Association. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Wallace of Memphis; son, Mark David Treece of Saudi Arabia; two grandsons, Craig Wallace of Memphis and Adam Treece of Falls Church, Virginia; and one brother, Bobby Treece of Marmaduke, Arkansas. Funeral Services will be held at Colonial Park United Methodist Church on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation at 12:30 prior to the funeral. Memorial Park Funeral Home will be in charge. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum in the Garden of Trees section.
