Grover Louis Higginbotham's Obituary
Grover Louis Higginbotham, age 88, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born August 17, 1925, in Meehan Junction, Mississippi, to the late Monroe and Pearl Higginbotham. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in several campaigns and earned a Purple Heart during action in Okinawa. He made his home with his family in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1952 and retired from the United States Postal Service after 30+ years of service. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Higginbotham, Bennie Higginbotham, Marvin Higginbotham, and one sister, Mary Lee Quiteriano. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mable Agnes Wheeler Higginbotham; four sons, Louis Higginbotham and wife, Judy of Orange Park, FL; Bob Higginbotham and wife, Teresa of Olive Branch, MS; Larry Higginbotham of Southaven, MS; David Higginbotham and wife, Kathy of Bartlett, TN; one daughter, Lorie Higginbotham of Southaven, MS; two sisters, Elsie Moore of Gulfport, MS and Gloria Allen of Meehan, MS. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will truly be missed but his spirit will always be with us.The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 15 and the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be sent to the Marine Corps League, 5500 N.
