Grover Frederick Champion, Sr.'s Obituary
Grover F. Champion, Sr. died Sunday, November 8, 2019, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX. He moved to Memphis in 1966. He was a Sprinkler Design Engineer at Security Fire Protection Company for 40 years. Grover was a Baptist and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was an airplane mechanic while stationed at Fort Bragg in Tampa, Florida. He enjoyed football, camping, traveling, and watching Father Brown services while relaxing in his recliner.He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Edward Champion, Sr. and Elodie Rose Frederick Champion; 2 brothers, Philip Edward Champion, Jr and Joseph Allen Champion; 1 sister, Jo Ann Champion Poli; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Boston Cruz Bunyard. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Edna Myrle Powell Champion; 5 children, Grover F. (Fred) Champion of Trenton, TX, Kyle Maurice Champion of Tampa, FL, Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Champion of Naples, FL, Brenda Louise Champion (Bill) Knight of Collierville, TN, and Denise Annette (Kenney) Hicks of San Marcus, TX.The family will receive friends Monday, December 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by funeral services all at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
