Gregory Wallace Seek's Obituary
Gregory Wallace Seek passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, in Southaven, MS, at the age of 74. Born on December 15, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was the cherished son of the late Wallace and Lavonne “Vonnie” Seek. Greg grew up alongside his siblings, Sandy Aalderks (Tim) and Mike Seek, and shared a special bond with half-brother Jim Leader.
A proud graduate of Frayser High School, Greg furthered his education at State Tech. His professional life was marked by dedication and skill. He served as an electrician at Baptist Memorial Hospital for over twenty years and had a fulfilling career as a machinist with the Illinois Central/Canadian National Railroad, from which he retired.
Greg embarked on a journey of companionship and love, first marrying Kay Frances Roote on June 12, 1969, until her passing on March 4, 2014. He found love again and married Allene Stallings in January 2015, embracing a blended family with grace and love.
Family was the cornerstone of Greg’s life. He leaves behind his daughter Holly Smith (Tripp) and his grandchildren, whom he adored, Walt and Tate, who lovingly called him “GaGa.” Greg held a deep, genuine love for his entire family and wife Allene, along with many friends and relatives. His memory will forever be cherished.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Seek, and son, Jason Seek, Greg’s legacy is one of love and dedication. His Lutheran faith guided him through life, and his generous spirit was evident in his care for his family.
Greg’s service in the United States Air Force was a testament to his patriotism and love for his country. His passion and enthusiasm for the history of aircraft and building competition-quality model planes set him apart. He found joy in a club dedicated to this craft, sharing his love and knowledge with fellow enthusiasts. Beyond the skies, Greg had many other interests, including his love for humor, old movies, especially the Three Stooges, and a timeless appreciation for classic country and ’50s and ’60s music.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, February 24, at 1pm, where Greg will be laid to rest. The family invites those who knew and loved him to join in celebrating his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Dorris Smith Scholarship at Christ Methodist Day School or the National Air Force Museum in his memory would be appreciated, honoring his passion and service.
Greg’s approach to life included embracing each moment and savoring it. In everything he did, he was a testament to the beauty of living an unhurried life. Greg’s passion for his interests and love for his family showcased a life well-lived, not by the speed at which it moved but by the depth and richness of its movements. Let us carry forward his legacy by taking the time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, fostering connections with those we hold dear, and finding joy in the pursuits that light up our hearts.
