Greg Krosnes' Obituary
Gregory Kevin Krosnes died in his sleep Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from complications associated with Type I Diabetes. Approaching his tenth year as a teacher of Theatre Arts at Arlington High School, he cared deeply for his students. “’Genuine’ is the best word I can come up with,” posted Sarah Kelley, a fellow teacher. Another posted, “This man had the most beautiful heart and most contagious laugh. He was so influential on all of us…his passion was stunning and his talent was remarkable.”Growing up in a military family, Greg moved to numerous locations around the United States and also lived in Germany. He caught the “theatre bug” in Germantown High School, and followed his passion to Rhodes College where he earned a degree in Theatre and Media Arts. He then moved to California where he won a Master of Fine Arts in acting at the University of California, Irvine. After lingering in Hollywood doing voice-overs and commercials, and pursuing a career in acting, he returned to the Memphis area, where he taught at Rhodes College and Arlington High School.In addition to teaching, Greg was active as a director and actor in Memphis area community theatres and served as a judge for the Memphis Theatre Awards.Mr. Krosnes is survived by his parents, Chris and John Krosnes, a sister, Melanie K. Lewis, brother-in-law Richard Lewis, niece Claire Lewis and nephew Calum Lewis.
