Grant Knighton's Obituary
Our beloved Grant Winfield Knighton died April 6 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born August 20, 1964 in Edlington, England, the son of Reginald and Shirley Knighton. He completed British Compulsory School and Apprenticeship at Scissors and Vanilla hair salons in London England. In 1984 he moved to Los Angeles California where he was a stylist at Joseph Martins and Michael John Studio for 5 years. In 1989 he moved to Memphis TN where he has worked these last 24 years as a popular stylist at Gould’s Salon and Day Spa in Cordova TN, his daughter Chelsea has followed in his footsteps.Grant liked to work hard and play hard, he mostly loved to spend time with his family. He loved soccer and enjoyed his cars and motorcycles, he loved fishing, boating, and was a very adventurous person. He loved to travel, including abroad with his family and also to the Ozarks and enjoy the outdoors, he cherished the times his family visited from England. He was an avid music lover, played online gaming and loved movies.Grant was known for his witty sense of humor and everyone enjoyed his funny stories. He had a tell it like it is personality. He had many friends, co-workers and clients that he loved and cherished dearly in the US and the UK.Grant is survived by his wife Carole Knighton of Collierville TN, daughter Chelsea Knighton of Ashland MS, stepdaughter and stepson Crystal Keck of Memphis TN and Dylan Keck of Kosai Japan, parents Reginald and Shirley Knighton, brother Lindsay Knighton, sister Beverley and brother in law Kenny Kinach of Edlington England, Father and Mother in law Phillip and Norma Peterson of Lake Mills IA , brother in law Duane Peterson of Wichita Falls TX, and grandsons Beckham and Grayson West of Memphis TN. Grant was our everything, he will be with us for eternity and beyond. Visitation is being held at Memorial Park, Memphis TN from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Memorial Services will be held there at 10:00am Friday April 12. In lieu of flowers, the family asks please consider getting involved in Motorcycle Awareness Foundation of TN (MAFT) or donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House in Memphis.
