Grady B. Martin's Obituary
Grady B. Martin, 93, passed away May 1, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.He was born on March 5, 1925, in Tuscumbia, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Freda Martin, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Grady is survived by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Wilder Martin; 3 children, Pat Benefiel (Tom), Carol Booth and Annette Frazier; 7 grandchildren, Michele Crouch, Ashley Cunningham, Joseph Booth, Michael Booth, Patrick Booth, Joanne House, and Christy Frazier; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.Grady enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1943, proudly serving his country in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service and a long-time member of Colonial Baptist Church. Grady played for the Amatuer Softball Association of America and Memphis Bowling Association for many years. Later in life he developed a love for camping, especially in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina.The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 pm, Friday, May 4 followed by funeral services at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
