Gloria Carmeene Trout Sawyers' Obituary
Gloria Carmeene Trout Sawyers, 76, a very talented and wonderful lady passed away Friday, June 29, 2012. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, July 1 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 2 at CrossRoads United Methodist Church on E. Shelby Drive, Collierville, TN. Burial will be private. Mrs. Sawyers was the key woman to Wesley Highland Manor for 6 years. She taught tap and ballet at the age of 16 at Turrel High School (AR). She was the youngest person at the age of 14 to become a certified teacher. She was a graduate of Humes High School, class of 1953 and was also Miss Humes-JROTC sponsor, cheerleadering co-captain, and enjoyed Reunion Committee duties. Mrs. Sawyers was a former member of Harris Memorial Methodist Church. She attended services at Knight Road School and later became a charter member of St. James Methodist Church. She belonged to CrossRoads United Methodist Women, New Horizons Sunday School Class, CrossRoads Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. She was in 10 Broadway Shows. Mrs. Sawyers was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, Andrew Clayton Sawyers, Sr.; her parents, Edward and Pearl Trout; brother, Ronny; and nephew Steve. She leaves a daughter, Tracey Lynn Sawyers Kiddy (Tim Waller); son, Andrew Sawyers, Jr.; brother, Tommy Trout (Judye); sister-in-law, Ann Trout; nieces, Melanie, Michelle, and Sherry; and nephew, Ronny, Jr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
