Gloria Babb's Obituary
Gloria J. Babb, nee Hansen, peacefully passed away Saturday after a short battle with cancer. She joins her husband, Michael Joseph and her son, Michael Hansen, in heaven with the blessings of all her family. Gloria was born January 10, 1932 in Memphis to Horace and Gladys Hansen and lived her entire life here. She is survived by sons Eric Babb (Laurie) of Lakeland, TN, Brian Babb (Meredith) of Ormond Beach, FL, and Mark Babb (Tonya) of Nesbit, TN, and her sister Lisa Hansen Johnson (Harold) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and grandchildren Michael, Melissa, Sara, Lisa, Harrison, and Maleah. After the birth of her four sons, she returned to school and received her degree from Memphis State University in 1970. She was teacher and director of EduCare, giving her the chance to do what she loved best: working with children. She was a tireless advocate for brain injury patients and an avid supporter and former board member of King’s Daughters and Sons Home, where her eldest son, Michael spent his final years. Gloria adored traveling, learning, sudoku puzzles, but most of all, her family. There was never an occasion that did not call for a family gathering. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, 10 a.m. at St Francis of Assisi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The King’s Daughters and Sons Home, 3568 Appling Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133.
