Glenn Burgess' Obituary
GLENN CARROLL BURGESS, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his home from a sudden heart attack. He was 82. He was born in Memphis and lived his entire life in Memphis until he moved to Germantown in 1993. He was married to his childhood sweetheart for 62 years last May. Valerie Irene Sorrell Burgess, who was his adoring wife and constant companion. Glenn’s father, Glenn Wilson Burgess; mother, Deloris Pulley Burgess and sister, Christine Burgess Crail, all preceded him in death leaving a nephew, Charles Glenn Crail. Glenn was a kind, caring and very thoughtful man giving of himself to anyone who needed help. He loved serving on the Glenalden Board for many years, helping with many improvements in the community. Glenn was a member of the Germantown United Methodist Church and serviced in several local organizations through the years. Glenn graduated from Treadwell High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War after being in the National Guard. He attended several electrical training programs to become a master electrician. Glenn was a member of the Electrical Workers Union for 60 years and worked for 45 years in commercial and Industrial Electrical Projects. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28 at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN, with services immediately following at 11:30 a.m., with burial n Memorial Park Cemetery.
